Analogue Recital by Sai Galaxy
Sai Galaxy debuts Analog Recital on Inner Tribe Records. A release filled with Lo-Fi House, jazz-synths, and African drums featuring Millicent, Adrian M Nation, Horatio Luna, and Natalie Slade.
In an era of overly-sanitized digital production, Sai Galaxy's latest offering on Inner Tribe Records, Analog Recital, arrives as a refreshing, texture-heavy breath of fresh air. Released as a stunning 12" vinyl and digital package, the EP is a sophisticated "recital" indeed - one that marries the unpolished grit of lo-fi house with the high-level musicianship of international jazz and soul.
The true magic of Analog Recital lies in its casting. Sai Galaxy has assembled a formidable global ensemble that gives the record a rich, multicultural heartbeat. From the powerful vocals of South Africa's Millicent to the Antiguian-Barbudan flair of Adrian M Nation, the vocal performances are as diverse as they are soulful. Anchoring the low end is Australia's own Horatio Luna, whose live bass work provides a fluid, human bounce that programmed sub-bass simply cannot replicate.
Sonically, the EP is a "dynamic blend" of styles that shouldn't work together on paper, but harmonize perfectly in practice. Sai Galaxy utilizes "crusty" drum programming - a clear nod to the golden era of hip-hop production - to provide a rugged foundation for shimmering jazz-synth melodies. The inclusion of live horns and traditional African drums elevates the project from a standard house EP to a living, breathing piece of art.
Tracks like "Like Cinnamon" showcase this hybridity perfectly, blending organic instrumentation with late-night floor-filling energy. It's a record that feels equally at home in a dimly lit jazz lounge as it does at a sunrise festival set.
Inner Tribe Records has a reputation for seeking out "musicality" in electronic spaces, and Analog Recital is a crowning achievement for that mission. Sai Galaxy has managed to capture the "organic" essence of a live jam session and distill it into six tracks of pure dancefloor gold. For the vinyl collectors and the deep-house purists, this is an essential acquisition.
