Big Bang EP by Hes Brian

Hes Brian grew up as a sbhujwa dancer in his native Vosloorus, South Africa, and those early days laid the foundation for his unique sense of rhythm and deep connection to music. He has now been DJing for more than a decade and has had music signed by the Afro house legend Themba, as well as releasing on Connected Frontline, Xibalo Records, and Ase Records.

This new EP is built on the idea of origin, not just in a cosmic sense, but in a personal, creative one. It explores the moment where nothing becomes something and sound and identity collide to form a universe of their own.

"The Source" is the first record I created after starting fresh on a new hard drive, a clean slate and a reset. But it quickly became more than just the first track. It became the foundation. Every sound, every direction, every feeling explored on the EP can be traced back to that moment. It holds the DNA of the entire project.

The "Big Bang" comes first, an intensely expressive house sound with rousing Afro drums and organic percussion layered richly. Piano lines and shimmering chords awaken the soul and bring a sense of new, inescapable optimism. There's a sense of discovery that carries over into the second track, "The Source," which orbits the same core, revealing different sides of the origin story. It's another majestic awakening with confident drums and deft percussive details that add vitality to the mix. Complex yet serene, it leaves an indelible impact.
