Braindead EP by Jason Detox

South London’s Jason Detox debuts on Repopulate Mars with a not-so Braindead EP.

Jason Detox is very much a product of South London. Since emerging in 2019, he has forged a sound that pulls from the city's rich heritage of garage, grime, hip-hop, and house music. With releases on Issues, Techaway, and Way Out Records, to name a few, his music has picked up support from leading names such as Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, and Paco Osuna. Now, he makes his debut on Lee Foss' acclaimed Repopulate Mars imprint with the three-track "Braindead EP."

This EP captures exactly where I'm at creatively right now. It blends the driving basslines, rolling grooves, intricate synths, and hooky vocals that have become the foundation of my sound.

Opener "Braindead" sets the tone with rolling drums, a supple bassline, and slick bars that bubble up through the mix before melting away, revealing hefty kicks and warped pads. "Tag Poppin" follows with swagger and intent, pairing a driving low end with glowing synth motifs and an infectious vocal attitude. Closing cut "Shake That" shifts into a more steamy, erotic vibe as teasing female vocals light up the laser-lit drums and bumping rhythms, bringing the EP to a memorable close.
