Call Me EP by Dam Swindle

The Amsterdam duo Dam Swindle delivers five warm, soulful tracks to mark the label's 100th release.

Dam Swindle returns to Heist with "Call Me," a five-track EP arriving in the wake of a landmark moment for the label. The record follows "House of House," Heist's 100th release milestone, which united pioneering figures and new talent from across the house spectrum, drawing support from tastemakers including Nick Grimshaw, Chris Hawkins, Femi Koleoso, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, and Sarah Story. Now, the Amsterdam dons are back on home turf with another masterclass in soulful, groove-led house music, marrying rich musicality with peak-time functionality.

The opener "Call Me" is all peak-time lift - tough stabs, glowing strings, and chopped female vox ride loose-limbed drums, before "5 to 9" shifts the mood deeper into the night. British-Bengali rapper Surya Sen brings a smoky, magnetic presence, his rich baritone weaving through Detroit-inspired chords and crisp organic percussion.

On the flip, "I Like It" radiates classic Swindle swing through warm Rhodes chords, fluttering electronics, and perfectly sliced soulful vocal chops, while "A House Track" strips things back to the essentials: buoyant drums, rich organs, and the unmistakable pulse of golden-era New York house. Lastly, "5 to 9" (Pull Up Dub) closes the release with a more dialed-in version of the original with textured vocals front and center.
