Close Call EP by Vinicius Honorio
Vinicius Honorio returns to Lady Tazz's Mind Medizin label with more brooding techno brilliance on the new two-tracker EP, Close Call.
Brazilian techno mainstay Vinicius Honorio debuted on this label with his "Direto EP" in 2024, and backed it up in October with a deep and tasteful remix. He has carved out his own musical lane with a trippy and foreboding sound that is dark and dubby, surreal and suspenseful. As well as dropping his alluring sounds on Figure, Blueprint, Token, and many more, he also runs his own Liberta Records label and is a regular guest at key clubs, including London’s Fold.
This potent EP opens with the mind-bending "Close Call" - a supple, deep groove where space and time warp to the rolling rhythm and freaky vocals pan across the mix, keeping you on edge. It's muscular and moody techno, but it is also deeply seductive and human. The fantastic "Piano Thing" offers a lighter, more playful sound, though it is still rooted in heavy drums and cavernous bass. Here, wonky, off-kilter pianos stumble about the mix, and gospel-style vocal chants echo the works of Detroit great Floorplan. It's a characterful tune designed to become an underground favourite in 2026 and beyond.
