Dunya III EP by Khadija
Berlin's Khadija unveils the third installment of her Dunya series on Radio Slave's REK'D label.
Following the release of the first two chapters, which earmarked her as an artist to watch earlier this year, Khadija has become a core presence within the Rekids family, joining label events at Berghain, as well as in Amsterdam and Zurich as part of the imprint's 20th Anniversary celebrations. While "Dunya" was originally conceived as a three-part series, it has continued to evolve, with more music in the works and a fourth installment to follow.
Khadija's "Dunya III" opens with "God," where an all-encompassing title is distilled into a stripped-back groove, soft string motifs, and an impassioned gospel vocal. "Glory" follows with a choir harmonizing around deep, soulful vocals as smooth House chords glide over a snappy rhythm, building into a nostalgic and uplifting moment. Closing the release, "On and On" leans into jazz-inflected territory, pairing delicate piano keys with subtle percussion and raw, emotive singing for a warm and intimate finale.
Khadija is a Berlin-based music producer, DJ, and creative director whose soulful House sound is shaped by her Eritrean heritage. A resident at Heideglühen and founder of the Rafiki artist collective, she has appeared at venues such as Robert Johnson, Tresor, and Fusion Festival, while her collaboration with Detroit's Stacey Hotwaxx Hale on Movement Music Records and previous REK'D EPs earned playlist support from Defected and Keinemusik, who also hosted her for a guest radio show.
Matt Edwards launched REK'D in October 2024 to release no-nonsense house music without the limitations of parent label Rekids. It has since become a home for dancefloor-focused EPs from artists including Avision, Ketiov & Edvvin, Uncertain, James Curd, Denney, and more.
