The Checkup is a fine digger of 90s House Music gems, and he proves once again all the passion he has for the original, most stomping form of the genre with this two-track EP, out on French imprint Frappé Records. Starting the aptly named "Energy EP" is "Wintergarten," which blends soulful vocals and piano loops on a bouncy bassline, for the kind of dancefloor banger the Parisian label is accustomed to releasing.

The French-born and Berlin-based producer then joins forces with singer Cansu Kandemir to deliver the deep and groovy "Waited long enough." The smooth voice is supported by 90s-sounding pads and punchy drums and snares. This one will surely get the crowd started on club dancefloors all around the world.
