Freak On EP by Yaya & Obeid
Yaya reunites with Obeid and serves up two cuts on Freak On, blending percussive drive with disco-infused elements.
Following his well-received "Respect EP" last year, Italian house stalwart Yaya returns to Sound D'Elite alongside Argentinian DJ/producer Obeid with "Freak On," a dynamic meeting of two artists with a longstanding creative relationship. After joining forces for "On The Beat" for Rendr Records, the pair have continued to cross paths, with Obeid making regular appearances on Yaya's Tamango Records, most notably with his label debut "For Real," which reached #2 on Beatport's Minimal / Deep Tech chart.
Brimming with energy, "Freak On" blends funk-laden grooves with disco-inflected touches and a swirling, dreamlike atmosphere, while "Give Me Rhythm" balances euphoric lift with stripped-back percussion, with heads-down drum loops, vocal effects, and a wicked bassline locking together for a rock-solid, no-nonsense club groove.
A longstanding presence in the European house circuit, with a sound rooted in groove, movement, and character, Yaya has taken his journey to global institutions and festivals including Hï Ibiza, Club Space, and Sunwaves. Meanwhile, Obeid continues to establish a foothold within the scene, releasing on Deeperfect, La Zic, and TBX Records, and earning support from Mochakk, Joseph Capriati, and Davide Squillace.
