GEMS by Shinedoe
Shinedoe's tenth MTM Records release is a testament to how potent her precise approach can be. GEMS is a four-track collection honed over years of dancefloor experience.
Hypnotic Techno with crisp drum programming, refined atmospheres and basslines that do the heavy lifting whilst sitting integral to the groove.
“Stand Up” is classic Shinedoe with taut percussion, gradual pressure, and a unique bass idea that feels more like an FM synth mantra than a hook. The “Rework” leans deeper, blurring the space the original bass took and opening room while keeping the pulse locked. Next, “Gold” nudges into peak-time territory with an unreal rhythm and bass section that has already lit up Berghain this season.
Closing GEMS, we have “Alkebulan”, Mother of human mankind. The Garden of Eden. It was the original name for Africa. In Alkebulan, she brings Igbo, the ancient Egyptians, and her ancestors into the here and now. The track has a depth to it rarely heard, threading ancestral motifs into a rolling framework that feels grounded and quietly euphoric.
Nothing here chases drama. Instead, GEMS favours precision, power, and practice. The kind of tracks that glue a night together and bring the dancefloor with them. Irresistible.
