Here & Now with Locklead
The Utrecht-based DJ/producer Locklead launches a new label, Common Interest, with the four-track EP, Here & Now.
Utrecht-based DJ and producer Locklead launches Common Interest, a new independent label centered around his vision as both a producer and curator. After years of releases across labels including Slapfunk, Up The Stuss and FUSE, Locklead is entering a new chapter with Common Interest. The label provides a platform for music that does not necessarily fit within a single genre or format, reflecting the broad range of influences that have shaped his sound over the years.
Common Interest will not only focus on Locklead's own productions. Rather than functioning simply as an outlet for new releases, the label is intended as an extension of his artistic identity, giving him the freedom to explore different sounds while taking on a more defined role as a curator.
The name reflects the idea of music as a shared language: something that can connect people, scenes and different musical worlds through a common passion. The first release is a four-track EP showcasing different sides of Locklead's production style. The focus track, "Here & Now," sits at the center of the release, marking his first new music in some time and introducing the imprint's sound and direction.
With over 15 years behind the decks and in the studio, Locklead has grown from Utrecht's underground into an established name on the international electronic music scene. Along the way, he has shared back-to-back sets with artists including Moxie, Mella Dee and Voigtmann, while his collaboration with Chris Stussy as Across Boundaries has added another dimension to his work as a DJ and producer.
In recent years, he has performed at clubs and festivals including Creamfields, The Warehouse Project and Space Miami. With Common Interest, Locklead is creating a space to continue that evolution on his own terms, putting music first and allowing his current interests as a producer and curator to shape the label's direction.
