Jus Tryin EP by Josh Burnett

Emerging from Manchester's electronic scene, Josh Burnett steps into summer with a first outing on Stacey Pullen's Blackflag Recordings. Titled "Jus Tryin," the three-track EP marks a milestone moment for up-and-coming talent, fusing his rolling, percussive grooves with unmistakable UK flavor and earworm R&B vocal chops.

Opening with the title track "Jus Tryin," Burnett sets the tone with a rolling and infectious cut, where bubbling percussion and vocal loops build into a slick terrace groover. "My Lovin'" follows with driving momentum, locking listeners into a hypnotic groove laced with swirling female R&B vox and subtly evolving textures. Closing out the release, "Don't Ya'" Know leans even further into percussive territory, pairing snaking low-ends stripped-back elements that stay busy for another dancefloor-crafted finale.

This EP was put together in early 2025 and worked heavily around catchy vocals and rolling drums. I sent "Jus' Tryin" over to Stacey a few days later after it was finished, and he was really keen to get this out on Blackflag. I was so pleased when Stacey asked if I wanted to sign this to Blackflag as it's such a legendary label, run by such a great person. It's a label I really want to push my sound out to, so it feels great to be finally getting this out. I really hope everyone enjoys the music.
