Knowledge EP by Yøhkan
Yøhkan returns to Techno Tehran Records with Knowledge, a four-track EP that revisits the artist's distinctive dark and deeply atmospheric sound.
Built around tension, depth, and atmosphere, Knowledge unfolds as a continuous progression rather than a collection of disconnected tracks. From its cinematic opening to its hypnotic closing moments, the EP moves through shades of dark melodic techno, retaining the unmistakable character synonymous with Yøhkan's productions on Techno Tehran.
The journey begins with "So True", an atmospheric intro that immediately establishes the world of the EP. A deep, dark male vocal introduces the track with an almost cinematic sense of anticipation before the kick and bass gradually emerge, transforming the piece into a powerful opening statement. Rather than functioning simply as an introduction, So True sets the emotional and sonic language for everything that follows.
The momentum continues with "New Era", a collaboration between Yøhkan and Unseen. The track develops the EP's darker aesthetic while introducing a stronger sense of movement and progression. It feels like a natural transition from the introspective opening of So True into deeper, more driving territory.
On "All This Knowledge", Yøhkan joins forces with Andrea De Cet for one of the EP's central moments. Deep, hypnotic and unmistakably dark, the track expands on the sonic identity established throughout the release, balancing melodic elements with a powerful sense of atmosphere and tension.
Closing the EP is "Triplet God", a track that takes Yøhkan's dark melodic approach into more unexpected territory. Built around a distinctive 6/8 rhythmic feel reminiscent of psychedelic trance, the track gradually transforms that rhythmic foundation into a darker melodic techno framework. The result is an unconventional yet highly coherent finale: energetic, hypnotic, and unmistakably Yøhkan.
With Knowledge, Yøhkan doesn't attempt to reinvent his sound. Instead, he deepens it. The EP captures the essence of his previous work while introducing new rhythmic ideas, textures, and arrangements, creating a release that feels both familiar and progressive.
