Moonzour by Boran Ece
Boran Ece draws on family, memories, and heritage across his new single, Moonzour.
Basel-based DJ/producer and composer Boran Ece returns to his own Son d'Étroit imprint with "Moonzour," a deeply personal new single shaped by the places that have influenced him from an early age. Named after the region in eastern Turkey where his family comes from, the track draws on a connection to place that sits beneath much of Ece's creative outlook, translating something deeply rooted in his upbringing into a contemporary electronic setting.
For Ece, music has always offered a way to explore the relationship between where we come from and who we become. "Moonzour" follows that thread, using atmosphere, rhythm, and space to evoke something less tangible than a specific memory - the feeling of being connected to a place, even when that connection is experienced through family, stories, and recollection.
There's a very personal story behind "Moonzour." The track is inspired by Munzur, the region where my family comes from. The release will also be accompanied by a video using old VHS footage my father recorded there many years ago. It brings together my roots and my music, touching on identity, freedom, and belonging.

Across "Moonzour," deep textures and spacious atmospheres come together in a hypnotic production that reflects Ece's ability to move between club-focused momentum and more immersive forms of electronic music. Hannes Bieger and Mickael Espinosa then offer their own takes on the original, with more dub-leaning sonics and rolling, percussive grooves, completing a three-track package that sits comfortably within Ece's wider sound - accompanying the live projects he is behind that have brought brass orchestration and live instrumentation into his expanding electronic world.
