My Mind by Niv Ast
A driving release from producer Niv Ast, featuring a reconstruction by Italian selector Fabrizio Mammarella.
Known for blending acid influences, indie dance grit, and post-punk sensibilities, Niv Ast has built a catalog across labels including Correspondant and Get Physical. With "My Mind", he channels that cross-genre edge into a focused, late-night floor filler.
The original mix is built on a tight four-on-the-floor pulse and a heavy, chugging bassline. Anchored by a hypnotic spoken-word vocal hook, the track builds tension through sharp synth stabs, crisp percussion, and wide delay tails. A stripped-back mid-track breakdown isolates the vocal before releasing into a surge of driving low-end, engineered for peak-time dancefloors.
On the remix, Slow Motion imprint founder Fabrizio Mammarella reframes the track through an Italo- and cosmic-disco lens. Speeding up the rhythmic momentum, Mammarella replaces the raw acid bite with rolling arpeggiated basslines, shimmering synth melodies, and chopped vocal accents. The result is a sleek, expansive reinterpretation that leans into Italian Dance Wave aesthetics.
Together, the two mixes showcase Superfine's growing focus on character-rich electronic cuts that span indie dance, dark disco, and techno.
