Saint Denis Saloon by Laesh
You won't know if it's the Wild West or Wednesday afternoon after listening to Saint Denis Saloon by Laesh.
Laesh is an artist who has the magical ability to capture raw energy in a track. Listening to his music and especially his most recent release on Dealt With Records, it's easy to imagine hearing his blend of energetic and euphoric house music coming from a KiNK live set - admittedly an artist Laesh admires.
Hailing from Northern Italy, not too far from Venice, Alessio began his love of music at the age of 14 with his trusty CD Walkman. Inspired by his love of such an eclectic range of music he began by producing house music before venturing into other styles. After 15 years of making music, his current catalogue of music is nothing short of supreme. It's hard to find a track that wouldn't make it into a music lover's collection. It is clear he takes his craft seriously as he explains, “Every day I study and try to improve my skills.” His forte is the highest quality house music that can wander along the lines of disco house, dubby techno, and either bumpin' Detroit or Chicago house, but whatever the iteration, the guarantee is that he has the fix for what the dancefloor needs. This is addictive club music.
Beginning with a piano sample, Laesh built his era-defining track, "Saint Denis Saloon," with a bass drum so heavy it is potentially evolution-sparking. The kind that may have wiped out the dinosaurs and caused those little fish to wriggle out of the sea and onto land. The drop in the song is so filthy you will need to be restrained from either: a. Jumping up through the ceiling or b. Punching your own tits off by accident. The nostalgia of the piano sample harks back to 90s and early naughties house, Laesh's warped and trippy playfulness of the sample, and the scattered rhythms around the pounding bass drum are sure to have you reconsider your life choices, quit your job and relocate to a commune in Panama.
"Tele Chords" starts almost breaky with its cut-up and raw beat, it glows and grows with some epic key stabs, eventually flourishing into a pounding, bleepy concert of neon jungle insects whizzing around your head. Classic house chords with an aggressive energy are pumped into this bass-heavy, dystopian cracker that isn't for the faint of heart. Vocals that are chopped and screwed, which add to the old school, housey feel. This is house music that's been heavily dosed.
