Nairobi-based Foozak and Sicily's Leo Guardo bring spiritual house depths to Non Merci Music with the single Spirit Rise.

Leo Guardo has a global house sound that draws on Afro, tribal, and ethnic influences. It has appeared on numerous leading labels, including MoBlack and Connected, and has made him a regular on Spotify playlists, BBC Radio 1, as well as in the world's top clubs and festivals. Here, he collaborates with Foozak, who is renowned for his musicianship, organic style, and utilisation of local vocalists to bring his authentic Afro sounds to life. He heads up the Ewaso Records label and is a powerhouse of the Kenyan scene, whose music often gets played by the influential likes of Black Coﬀee.

The majestic "Spirit Rise" has soft and deep drums with feathery snares dancing over the top and synth sequences that are full of promise. They build to a subtle peak when smoky and soulful vocals join the mix next to brighter stabs.
