It also brings John Tejada and Plaid back together after years of remixing each other's work, following their first collaborative release, Bittersweet, which appeared on Palette two years ago.

The connection already had a history, but these tracks open it up further. Tejada's sense of groove, pacing, and melodic clarity meets Plaid's harmonic detail, movement, and slightly surreal sense of form. The result feels natural from both sides, combining qualities each artist is known for.

Made in Los Angeles during the late winter 2026 heatwave on a hybrid setup of synths and software, the release balances warmth, detail, and forward motion. "Start Motion" leans into momentum and shape, unfolding gradually through interlocking rhythm and melodic drift. "Chilla" takes a lighter path, with more bounce and a looser feel on the surface, while still carrying plenty of detail underneath.
