Sunset Thoughts EP by Cosmonection & Soren Lyann
Cosmonection, one of the most prolific house producers in recent years and one of the best-kept secrets of the new French scene, is back with a new EP titled Sunset Thoughts alongside Soren Lyann.
Following the success of his debut album "Hidden Places" on Pont Neuf Records last year, as well as his recent EPs on Oath and Shall Not Fade, Cosmonection returns with four new tracks that are sunsoaked and nostalgic, blending his influences of Balearic, deep, and Afro house. The EP, a collaboration with the talented singer and guitarist Soren Lyann, will be available in both vinyl and digital formats on October 20th.
I met Soren a few months ago, and we immediately had a musical connection. We both share a sensibility that fits perfectly with the music I usually produce under my solo project. I've always been a fan of Balearic guitars or flamenco thanks to my Catalan roots. We've tried to bring that dimension to this EP, to take people on a sonic journey that evokes melancholy memories for them and for us.

The EP opens with "Bulles," a vibrant homage to Balearic music, featuring ethereal harmonies and swirling melodies that weave an enchanting sonic tapestry. The guitar guides the tempo, shaping a captivating groove that invites us to get lost in the floating notes and surrender to a musical voyage where freedom and escapism harmoniously intertwine.
Next, "Wakin' Up With You" blends nostalgic and introspective sentiments with a gentle melancholy and intimate love. Cosmonection lends his own vocals to one of his tracks for the first time, accompanied by arrangements and rhythms that are both danceable and subtle, while the muted textures create an intimate space, inviting us to delve into the depths of our own memories.
Inspired by Afro house and the rich sounds of Malian guitar, "Solar" embodies an intoxicating fusion, akin to a flamboyant sunrise. Co-produced in the studio with Tour-Maubourg, the track features an energetic groove that fills us with growing energy throughout.
Finally, "Ballad" concludes the EP, merging the realms of deep and afro house with rhythms and melodies that echo the spirit of bossa nova, creating an intoxicating and mystical atmosphere that urges everyone to surrender to the music and connect with a universal energy.
In the wake of the emerging French house scene in recent years, Cosmonection has quickly made a name for himself as "one to watch" (Mixmag). His discography speaks for itself, with EP releases on labels such as Pont Neuf Records, Shall Not Fade, Delusions of Grandeur, Oath, and Beats of No Nation. In 2022, he unveiled his debut album "Hidden Places," which garnered comparisons to essential figures such as DJ Gregory, Julien Jabre, and DJ Deep.
On stage, his promising trajectory has led him to perform at renowned clubs like Rex Club, Badaboum, IBOAT, and Sisyphos in Berlin, as well as prestigious festivals including Marvellous Island, Insula Festival, and Madame Loyal. In 2023, he released three new EPs on Oath, Shall Not Fade, and Pont Neuf Records, solidifying his reputation as a prolific and rising artist. On the latter, he teams up with guitarist and singer Soren Lyann to bring a live ambition to his project.
