The Metronome by Robert Hood
The next release in M-Plant's Perpetual Masters series is Robert Hood's The Metronome, freshly remastered for 2026 by Thomas Heckmann.
Following July's remastered reissue of Robert Hood's "Invincible," M-Plant's Perpetual Masters series continues with "The Metronome," set for a vinyl release in September, after the digital versions dropped in the summer.
Robert Hood's "The Metronome" distills techno to its barest, most hypnotic pulse. Over the two tracks, Hood strips rhythm down to ticking hi-hats, lean kicks, and looping motifs that feel mechanical yet human. The grooves are relentless but never cold, building tension through subtle shifts instead of excess. Originally released in 2002, it remains a masterclass in minimalism: precise, cerebral, and intensely physical, and still sounds futuristic more than two decades on.
Like other releases in the Perpetual Masters series, "The Metronome" has been remastered by legendary German producer Thomas Heckmann.
