They Call Me EP by Lovebirds

Berlin-based Lovebirds are electronic music royalty, universally known for their masterpiece "Want You In My Soul" (featuring Stee Downes), released on Winding Road Records in 2011. An epic, gentle beauty of a track, with fine vocals and soaring synths, this song transcended deep house and recently powered past 45 million streams on Spotify. The duo has had some of their finest moments on the Winding Road Records label, including not only "Want You In My Soul" (featuring Stee Downes), but also "In The Shadows" (featuring singer Holly Backler), "The Night," "Love On My Hands," "Modern Stalking," and many more.

The Lovebirds' sound is warm, bold, polished, and authentic. In a world of hurried tech-house tracks, its quality and musicality really stand out. Lovebirds have also released on Freerange, Lazy Days Recordings, Peppermint Jam, and their own label, Teardrop Recordings. "They Call Me" is the first Lovebirds release on Winding Road Records since "Want You In My Soul." The new three-track EP lives up to the same high standards, with a beautiful sound palette and polished production, which is the Lovebirds' hallmark.

The title track, "They Call Me" is a funk-fuelled Detroit style jam with bluesy vocals, solid beat, rasping horns, and live bass from Declan MacDermott (who recently signed for Delusions of Grandeur), while "Smooth & Fatfree" is a silky downtempo groover with the fattest bass this side of Berlin, heavy 80s beats, and super smooth keys and "Bali Birds" is a slinky deep house groove, with a hypnotic bassline nestling between mellow chords, reminiscent of Super Discount vibes.
