Time Warp EP by SHIFTY
The Huntington Beach duo SHIFTY make their Blackflag Recordings debut with the groove-led Time Warp EP.
With Stacey Pullen's Blackflag Recordings closing out a landmark year of new signings and standout releases, the label now turns its attention to rising Californian duo SHIFTY as they make their debut appearance. With a style that blends disco, soul, funk, and jazz influences into clean, effective house grooves, the pair have released on House Hats, North of Neptune, and DOSMUNDOS, and have been supported by selectors across the global club circuit. Their arrival on Blackflag marks another moment as they land on a label committed to spotlighting emerging talent with a clear identity.
The duo's "Time Warp EP" brings unhurried, feel-good grooves with a distinctive swing. Title track "Time Warp" brings smooth bass work and swirling synths arranged around warm rhythms, while "No No Baby" leans into jazzy touches and crisp drum patterns to deliver a tight, rolling cut. Landing just before the year's close, the two-tracker reinforces Blackflag Recordings' continued commitment to championing fresh voices and forward-leaning club music, rounding out 2025 with a release that highlights both the imprint's direction and SHIFTY's growing trajectory.
