A decade in the making, this re-imagining of Roberta Flack's 1969 classic “Tryin' Times” turns a protest soul song into a modern jazz-rave invocation. Prommer loops, fragments, and deconstructs elements of the original recording, amplifying its message as a deep, dark yet urgent call for unity in a fractured world. Additional piano from Berlin-based Mosés Yoofee adds harmonic fire, while Prommer's snare fills are played on the very first snare drum he ever touched as a child in Styria, which he inherited from his marching-band uncle and that carries decades of history in every hit. The result is a swirling, hypnotic anthem where memory, politics, and the dancefloor collide.
