San Antonio-raised producer Hiatt dB returns to Rhythm Section with the "Wild Wild West EP." It follows his 2022 debut on the South London label, the "Palimpsest EP," with the "Wild Wild West EP" once again channeling his distinctive blend of leftfield club music and regional storytelling. Now based in New York after formative years in Louisiana and New Orleans, Hiatt dB draws influence from the Mediterranean, West Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean, filtered through the rhythmic swagger of the American South.

Alongside his productions on labels like Razor-n-Tape and Dance Petrol Records, he runs Mystery Zone as a party and label to platform local talent, and has built a travelling Hi-Fi soundsystem from salvaged components, debuted at Mardi Gras 2019 with live samba and afrobeat ensembles, all feeding into a sound that is low-slung, playful, and deeply groove-led.

Hiatt dB's "Wild Wild West EP" opens with "Let's Party," a mutant breakbeat workout driven by raw, live drums, detailed snare patterns, and hooky synth lines that bring a disco-inflected warmth and subtle cosmic edge. "Wild Wild West" follows with a broader, more expansive feel, pairing bouncy breaks and rubbery bass with swirling pads and playful, country-tinged textures for a colourful collision of influences.

"Come On" shifts into smooth, deep house territory, where golden chords and vocal stabs shimmer over a lush, late-night groove as the energy turns firmly club-focused. Closing track "Nightlife" rounds out the release in expressive fashion, combining knotted bass, funk breaks, and euphoric vocal cries into a big, freewheeling house cut that nods to the hazy spirit of early-90s Madchester while keeping its feet planted on the dancefloor.
