Shola by Atish & Nhii

New York-based Atish is an artist known for communicating the highs and lows of life through his diverse soundscapes, spanning deep house, Romanian minimal, artful techno, and emotive progressive house on esteemed labels such as Anjunadeep, Stil Vor Talent, and Manjumasi, which he co-founded with Mark Slee. Here he joins forces with fellow New Yorker Nhii, recognized for his bottomless journey of musical growth with no boundaries, exploring deep sounds and electronic elements on labels like Sol Selectas and One Tribe Records. Together they combine their creative visions for the first time with a compelling two-track collaboration on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown Rebels sub-label, Rebellion, offering a rich sonic tapestry of beats with "Shola."

I wear my inspirations and playfulness brightly on my sleeve with the Shola EP. Nhii and I created "Shola," referencing my South Asian roots with an obscure 1983 Hindi/Urdu sample, while the solo tune "2007" has synth textures nodding to one of my most formative years as a dance music enthusiast, the year I moved to San Francisco.
