Doce Nostalgia EP by Leo Janeiro, Bruce Leroys
Doce Nostalgia EP by Leo Janeiro, Bruce Leroys is a celebration of partnership and friendship, revisiting its origins with a sweet taste of something new.
In 1995, the UK was at the height of rave culture, with Cream establishing itself as one of Europe’s most influential superclubs. In New York, labels like Strictly Rhythm were driving the rise of vocal house, while projects such as Masters at Work blended Latin influences and organic grooves into the genre. That same year in Berlin, the Love Parade brought together more than 300,000 people for the first time, cementing its place as a defining moment in a growing global cultural movement.
It was also in 1995 that the authors of this release first met in Brazil. "Doce Nostalgia" was born as a toast to that encounter and a reaffirmation of a bond that has only grown stronger over the decades, a project that carries the same weight and intensity as a partnership shaped by time.
Following releases on labels such as Get Physical Music, Definitive Recordings, Heattraxx, D.O.C Records, Me Gusta Rec, U’reguay, and his own imprint Cocada Music, Leo Janeiro now shares on Aureum’s eleventh release a glimpse of his versatility, dedication, and experience. Across two tracks, one of them a collaboration with Bruce Leroys, Leo invites us back to the roots: the deep connection to Soul, Jazz, and Funk that form the foundation of both the label and house music itself. Here, the classics are reimagined through a contemporary lens.
This time-traveling journey captures the spirit behind "Doce Nostalgia" and "Ain’t No More." It feels like sending a MiniDisc straight back to the ’90s, packed with the textures and sonic elements that made the genre beloved worldwide, yet delivered with the power, clarity, and presence of today’s sound systems.
Following the release of his album featuring Jon Dixon, the Detroit-based musician, producer, and pianist known for his work with the legendary Underground Resistance, Leo continues to align himself with artists who honor time and history. Long before Cocada Music’s first release, which already featured a Bruce Leroys production with remixes by Trepanado and Ricardo Villa Lobos, this creative synergy had been in the making.
Nearly a decade later, the "Doce Nostalgia EP" stands as a celebration of partnership and friendship, revisiting its origins with a sweet taste of something new.
