Segu Tonjon by Laroz & Bemet feat. Bassekou Kouyaté

Laroz and Bemet collaborate on a stunning new single, Segu Tonjon, on Connected, with Bassekou Kouyaté on vocals.

Laroz is a DJ and producer who has been deep in the scene for three decades. He has credits on tasteful labels like Diynamic, Sol Selectas, and his own Man House and Camel Riders and works across multiple genres, always with a unique personality. Here, he works with Bemet, who was chosen for Forbes's influential 30 Promising Youngsters of 2020 list, having been a precocious jazz talent since his youth. He has been GRAMMY nominated in the past after graduating from Berklee College of Music and now has a revered live show that has seen him play on the likes of Cercle Music and at ADE. He was last out on Chez Damier's H24 label with a superb minimal house album, "Lobster," in August 2022 and is back in style here.

The sublime "Segu Tonjon" is a rich world of Afro drums and melodies. The percussion brings great color to the rolling grooves, while the expressive vocals of Bassekou Kouyaté add spirituality. Soft focus melodies, jungle bird calls, and organic hits all make this a warming, soul-drenched sound.
