Smooth/Move by Tyler Hill
Deep groove purveyor and Toronto mainstay Tyler Hill land on Ellum Audio with a new pair of tracks that come with a remix by label regular AVNU.

Tyler Hill is an artist who dips into many musical influences, from funk to European electronica to synth-infused 80s magical via hip hop and electronica. He plays all around Toronto's key venues, is one half of DJ duo +ONE, and hosts a residency at Wiggle Room, also the name of the label he recently launched with his long-time friend and manager, Takin Nateghi.
Opener "Smooth" is a heavy, thumping track drips with sweat and sleazy vocals. The bass rumbles low, and the raw percussion adds extra menace to this assured dance floor workout. AVNU is one of Maceo Plex's most hotly-tipped acts of recent years. He is based on the East Coast of Scotland and dropped his superbly adventurous album "Tough To Love But Worth The Effort" here in May 2022 and then followed it up with a collaboration with Maceo on "Clickbait (This Ain't Hollywood)" back in July. His remix is explosive, with serrated synths flashing about the mix and distorted bass bringing extra darkness to the original.
The superb "Move" is another solid house sound with a wonky low end and swaying drums that swing low. Rising synths keep things moving while dub-wise vocals layer some Afro influence to this most characteristic of tracks.
