Beste Modus 07 by Cinthie & Stevn.aint.leavn

Fresh from a strong January release, the Beste Modus crew look set to take 2017 by storm, this time with a versatile record that yet again raises the bar within the contemporary house scene. Cinthie’s touring schedule continues to be varied and consistent off the back of her strong studio ethic and the labels flourishing releases, with gigs ranging across Europe from Berlin’s Watergate to Paris’ Concrete. Joining Cinthie on this release is Beste Modus label mainstay and co-founder stevn.aint.leavn, who continues to push his raw and understated sound to new levels, proving that hard work in the studio pays off.

Kick starting the EP is Cinthie’s ‘Back to Garage’, here she employs a classic jacking groove and laces it with subtly flourishing synth lines, authentic choppy sampling and a sonorous bass line. ‘Hold’em’ then heads back to Cinthie’s signature sound with stripped back, raw percussion layered with smoothly evolving pads and hypnotic vocals.

Stevn.aint.leavn’s first track ‘Isn’t It’ opts for a low-slung drum workout which gathers momentum with crisp hats and a meandering acid-tinged bass line, before airy chords intensify the atmosphere. ‘Sub Marino’ then closes the package with a tribal and crunchy groove, fuelled by an infectious synth lead that subtly dissipates, only to be escalated by cunning panning effects.
