"Gabu" is a colloquial pan-Arabic term for basement and is all about connecting house tribes from around the Middle East and the world. The young label returns with a superb sixth release here from local scene innovator Baloo and Berlin's Carlo.

Baloo is Ahmad Alammary, Chief Creative Officer at MDLBEAST, who puts on the region's largest festival and plays a pivotal role in shaping its culture. As a veteran DJ and label head of Gabu Records, who first started in 1997, he focuses on developing house music events and releasing regional music works. He has a deep, soulful, and gritty sound and has played at renowned festivals and clubs across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, so his influence extends far beyond his homeland. Similarly, Carlo's versatile talents as a DJ, producer, and event curator have made him a respected figure in the Berlin music scene. He holds a residency at StudioClub in Málaga and has released on Classic Music Company Shall Not Fade and his own imprint, Aterral.

Their superb "Doors Open" is a deliciously deep cut stripped back to the core essentials but has a warm, inviting atmosphere. Dusty drums and percussion are run through with warm synth vamps and subtle finger clicks that lock you into hypnosis. As the drums begin to skip, the vibes pick up, and you can't help but feel good.

Parisian Brawther is one of contemporary Deep House's most respected talents. He is also one-half of Dungeon Meat for more hardcore house sounds and has landed on Cabinet Records and Balance Recordings, amongst many more. His fantastic version is a dreamy, zoned-out roller that leaves you feeling weightless as the wispy pads swirl around a supple, warm groove.
