Revive EP by Geo Jordan

Grammy-nominated producer, Doja Cat collaborator, and Jungle band member Geo Jordan debuts on Aus Music.

Geo Jordan is somehow one of the UK's best-kept and most multifaceted musical secrets, but this year he steps into his own light with a sublime debut on Aus Music. The openly trans artist has spent many years working in the shadows as a studio collaborator, band member, and songwriter with the likes of alt-soul outfit The Hics and renowned artists such as Bas, Amaarae, Ego Ella May, and Doja Cat on her Grammy-nominated Planet Her album.

He has also been a core live member of Jungle for their last two album campaigns and worked as a Musical Director for notable UK live acts including JGrrey and Jack Garratt, all while self-releasing his own club-centric sounds. His considerable production chops yielded an impressive sample pack in 2022 with WhoSample, and have won him plenty of award nominations.

The opener "Busy Minds" has Jordan's confessional, candid vocals front and center. His smooth tones echo those of neo-soul boy Jordan Rakei, with woozy pads and sketchy beats, making a gentle but persuasive groove. "Running" feat. VC Pines is a more bubbly sound that pairs lo-fi textures and fluid synths with an easy optimism, again anchored by Jordan's own beautiful vocals.

"Bouncy Guy" turns inwards with organic broken beats, dusty percussion, and a light touch that suspends you amid pensive pads and wispy neon hues. "I Try To Forget" has swing and swagger to spare, but, as with everything here, restraint and subtlety are key. The rousing "Waiting" spins out on deft jungle rhythms, with heartbroken melodies adding a bittersweet finish, then the closer "Accelerate" marks a dancefloor takeoff with frenzied drumming, bluesy guitar motifs, and spectral synths that carry Jordan's empowering refrains to new heights.
