S27 by DJ Payroll
New York's DJ Payroll taps into the ghetto fabulous sound on the release of S27.

DJ Payroll is Manhattan-born and raised, growing up around the rich 90s sounds of New York. His authentic house grooves take inspiration from that time and combine it with Afro-Latin percussion, seductive horns, and driving sub-bass. He started this label in 2016, and it has since become an underground staple featuring plenty of his own music, which he calls "ghetto fabulous."
"S27" is a fantastically freaky cut with twitchy synth details injecting texture and rawness into a bass-heavy house groove. Sensuality comes from some smooth vocal coos as this edgy sound pumps the party. The superb "WeRoc (Techwhoa)" then pairs old-school vocal bars with jacked-up beats and bright, flashy, future-facing synth work. The percussion is organic and brings sunshine, as an ever-evolving arrangement keeps dancers on their toes.
