Spirit by Melle Brown
Southern Fried Records presents the latest piece of magic from the multi-talented Melle Brown with the single, Spirit.

Melle Brown's career to date has seen many wonderful moments and releases, and at the crux of it all is her passion for delivering high-octane, soulful dance music - both in the studio and behind the decks - and for the communities in which she is highly active in supporting other artists. Her sound is one deeply embedded in the sounds of today, yesterday, and the future, with signature motifs found all over that speak to an incessant musical curiosity and passionate spirit. Her music connects the dancefloor to the rhythms of life, and she has an inherent ability to create moments that leave lasting impressions upon those who listen to her music.
Her style is a brew of neo-soul, tech and deep house, all of which comes together to become something distinctly Melle Brown - and it is her craft that has seen her support the likes of Kerri Chandler, Patrick Topping and Ewan McVicar, alongside playing at some of the world's most revered nightclubs and festivals, including Glastonbury, Razzmatazz, Warehouse Project and Fabric to name but a few. Outside of producing and performing, she has extensive experience in broadcasting, from interviewing Nile Rodgers and Fraser T Smith, to covering BBC Radio 1's Future Dance and featuring on Defected Broadcasting Radio. Furthermore, she was recently appointed as an ambassador for the Roundhouse, with whom she supports her local community and helps nourish pathways for other creatives to flourish.
"Spirit" is a pure embodiment of the musical ideals that Brown holds close to her heart, and as a composition, it aims to reach out beyond and fill the room with sonic vibrations and resonating tones. The rhythm section leads the way with a delicate, uptempo feel, with an emotive piano sequence then landing to lead the dance. The track then continues to evolve through some glorious, high-octane sections, with the keys creating a blissed out top section that shifts through differing levels of feel, whilst the vocal samples float between the lines, providing that extra slice of delight. A balanced and thoughtful approach is present throughout, with Brown taking time to shift between releases of energy and, at the right moment, allowing the breakdowns to wash over with their melodic brilliance. The Radio Mix is a wondrous snapshot, whilst the Extended Mix elaborates on the transitions that little bit more, but either way, the feeling, the musicality, and the emotion are all the same.
