Mwenda EP by MÖW
The artist MÖW makes his Connected debut with the fantastic Mwenda EP this month.

MÖW has been honing his unique house sound for almost a decade, always with an organic quality that has stood him apart. He mixes an array of world sounds with modern electronic sounds and his unique touch, whether making a lush downtempo or more club-ready deep house. He has played plenty of the world's best clubs and festivals, and his music is never far from the tastemaking record bags of top-tier DJs.
The opening track, "Mwenda," has a stirring Afro-house sound with poignant chords and a pitched-up vocal that is beguiling and full of gorgeous melancholy. Glassy sounds and organic percussion bring the drums to life, but the vocal hooks you in. The wonderful "Griot" rolls deep and has vibrant Afro guitar sounds, adding the authentic hook next to florid whistles and funky drum patterns.
There's a spine-tingling allure to the sultry vocals of "Mwega" with its reflective melody and taught kick patterns, while "Castigo" is more tense thanks to the upright drums and edgy stabs that light up the track with a sense of drama. Another breathtaking vocal makes this a signature MÖW sound, and last but not least, "Acacia" has a sense of hope and optimism in the airy, widescreen chords and expansive drums.
