Rebekah presents Pop Pop 2023 Remixes

Elements announce a remix package of Rebekah's 2011 release "Pop Pop." Originally released via Cs Gas Records, the track cemented itself as a must-have record with its dark, tripped-out feel and equally wonky, harder-hitting "Popped Off" mix. Now, she breathes new life into the track with a remarkable 2023 remix package and is joined by a talented cast of artists reimagining this tough and techy roller with her.

With its Hip Hop vocal sample, it seemed like the perfect time to bring Pop Pop back for an update. I invited Alt8 to remix the track as he is really good with vocals as well as already having a stellar remix of Darkness My Old Friend from 2020's Ghost Stories release. Ayako Mori is one of hard techno's unsung heroes, she has been consistently producing solid tracks for years now, and the harder direction of this package seemed like a perfect fit. Dark Chambers adds a more industrial feel with his remix and as the original 2011 EP came out on his label it made sense for my long term collaborator and mentor to also provide one.

Following up Rebekah's power-surging version, Moments In Time and Kneaded Pains artist Alt8 turns the track into a stomping affair rife with hardcore influences, crunchy drums, screaming stabs, and the original's "pop pop" vocal coursing through. This is before Physical Techno Recordings, Kalmary Records, and Unbekannt/ Label boss Ayako Mori step up with roaring hoovers, a stutter on the vocal, and creative breakdowns bringing forth its hip-hop origins.

Dark Chambers then returns with a new iteration of the track after featuring on the original 2011 release, imbuing his dark and deep techno style with hammering drums and distorted synths, and last but not least, Sopik provides the EP with a heavy dancefloor bomb, closing out this quality remix pack drawing on a broad palette of complex techno sounds. Rebekah invites the Finder Records founder to add his unique modern flair, manipulating its bassline and bringing a fresh dynamic to this year's techno genre mashing.
