This January will see the release of the Redux Trilogy on British imprint 2020 Vision Recordings. Comprising nine original tracks from the Argentinian producer.
Buenos Aires, Argentina based producer Fernando Pulichino, better known as simply Fernando, is known for many talents such as DJ’ing, producing, being a multi instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Over the years Fernando has racked up a string of releases on reputable imprints such as Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal, Germany’s Gomma and of course Redux, the imprint which released the trilogy of EP’s compiled into one release set to drop via 2020Vision here.
The ‘Redux Trilogy’ sees Fernando deliver five original cuts on a Nu-Disco tip, built around organic instruments, analogue synthesizers and the Argentinian’s 80’s tinged vocal stylings. Opener ‘Kick In The Eye’ brings to light Fernando’s talents, a brilliantly crafted record fusing chuggy guitars, funk bass and Bowie style lyrics. Also on offer in the package are a ‘Synth Dub’ and ‘Instrumental Mix’ of ‘Kick In The Eye’. Following we have ‘Scarecrows’ which tips its focus towards a more electronic sound with smooth synth lines, gritty bass and raw chord stabs, while ‘Blade Runner’ sees the retro arpeggiated synth sound brought into the limelight.
‘Endless Disco’ does exactly as the name would suggest with its insistent, ever-evolving dynamic fuelled by rolling bass licks, stuttering synths, dubbed out vocal and sweeping pads. To close the release two remixes are offered up, the first of which comes courtesy of Steve Kotey, formerly of Chicken Lips, who delivers his unique and infectious interpretation of ‘Endless Disco’, fuelled by busy yet carefully constructed drums, whirring background atmospherics and a punchy, rugged bass-line.
While Croatia’s Ilija Rudman closes the package with a stripped back reshape of ‘Scarecrows’, driven by loose 4/4 beats, ethereal pad lines and twitching 303 style bass.
