No Rules EP by Notre Dame

Notre Dame quickly rose to prominence with music on Innervisions, Cercle, and Adriatique's Siamese. His sound is always emotionally resonant and has seen him remix the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Bedouin, and Röyksopp, launching his own label Paranormal and playing the world's most celebrated clubs and festivals.

No Rules is a three-track EP where I explore the raw energy of early rebellion, that moment in childhood when rules start to feel optional, and identity begins to take shape. Through "No Rules," "Troublemakers," and "Watch Me," I wanted to capture three different emotions, from defiance to chaos to self-expression. The idea was to build the project around three distinct modes, reflecting the emotional shifts of that transitional age. For me, it's a nod to that first taste of freedom, where pushing boundaries becomes part of growing up.

The title track hits with a smashing kick and dreamy synths that pull you back to the golden old days. Rugged bass guitar adds texture, while layered vocals build tension in what is a sweeping house cut.

The playful percussion of "Troublemaker" follows, a tribute to those fun, carefree moments. The drums are chunky, the bass bounces, and the vocal yelps have a rawness and immediacy that will charge up any party. "Watch Me" then snaps you in with a powerful vocal, tying everything together into a defiant, high-energy anthem. The drums are laden with cowbells and zippy synth lines that are big in the mix and demand full-bodied responses.
