Inspired by his trips along the North Essex Coastline, Crooked Finger has brought forth four tracks traversing house, techno, and off-kilter electronica marked by raw, ambient textures. Opener "Goose" is a real burner, taking its time to build with dubbed-out chords and razor-sharp snares before the irresistible pitch of his electric 303 channels the pure power of nature.

Next up is "APR", a rusty and dusty track pulled straight from the mud of a deep marshland pond, carefully chugging and slugging along with ethereal pads and intricate grooves. "EightyEight" then makes itself at home in the warehouse, a vintage dancefloor weapon boasting a large bassline and clattering drums, positioning itself perfectly for the peak time. Lastly, the moody house number "Orange Wine" closes the release with an earworm arpeggiator backed up by a hypnotic vocal sample and an infectious bass, connecting the dots between the marsh and the dance.

The marshes have this isolated and lonely beauty, they're kind of inaccessible but alluring and totally unlike the seaside beaches where the majority of people flock. All of this finds its way into these pieces of music.
Crooked Finger

Crooked Finger’s music is defined by its rawness, with an aim to present DIY attitudes that have influenced him from the skate scene he grew up on. As curator of left-field dance label SZE, he has a keen ear for oddball sounds circling the fringes of the dancefloor. The label has released works by Shamos, Hi & Saberhagen, Pletnev, as well as his own debut EP.
