Paul Davis is Circulation, the now-solo project with roots going back more than 25 years. The accomplished producer was a key part of the early UK tech house scene in the 90s and 00s, played around with disco and funk samples, and put out some top-quality techno. Sasha was an early supporter of the Circulation sound, so it makes sense that now Davis is back, and he has landed on Last Night On Earth.

Opener "Flight" is a widescreen and cinematic sound awash with fantastic synth work - they ripple above the warm bass and are smeared in all directions. At the same time, more watery droplets and glassy keys add extra detail. The spoken word vocal sounds like a radio transmission from space and adds even more narrative. "New Way" is another classy sound mixing undulating electronic rhythms with melancholic chords. There is a forlorn mood across the seven minutes as shifting leads and exotic vocals keep the groove moving and dancers locked in for an emotional ride.
