Milan-based Motel Calypso Records is more than just a party and label; it's an intimate community and movement that brings authentic, international underground sounds to the city and beyond. Co-founded by Massi Rocket, it merges minimal deep tech, disco, and prog and now welcomes self-taught musician, DJ, and producer Alex Bohemien.

Alex Bohemien is known for his inspiring, joyous sounds on labels like Defected, Sonny Fodera's Solotoko, and Nervous. He heads up his own ADUNANZA and has showcased his take on house music in clubs across Europe for the past twenty years.

The idea behind his first cut, "Funky Fresh," was to reimagine Ciara and Missy Elliott's 2004 hit "1,2 Step" in a modern, club-ready tech house style. The original was heavily influenced by the '80s electro scene, funk, and the pioneering sounds of Afrika Bambaataa and, along with 2000s American dance-pop, played a significant role in shaping Bohemien's artistic journey. The track is a rock-solid groove with wispy synth motifs adding color and energy to the re-styled vocals, which bring a fresh attitude over tightly coiled and heavyweight bass.

"Get Together" is a high-energy club weapon with a relentless bassline and tight tech drums that hark back to Bohemien's early productions. It's packed with well-defined percussion and trippy details, and the rolling kicks are so potent they hit like a tsunami.
