Particle EP 1 by The Southern

The Southern returns to CLR with the bass-rattling part one of the Particle EP.

Up first on The Southern's "Particle EP 1" on CLR is title track "Particle," a potent cut featuring layers upon layers of distortion, with its rusty drums hammering beneath a barrage of synths. The excellent "Consciousness" is no less intense, following on by pairing pulsing sonics and brain-frying acid with rolling grooves. It's an arresting and dystopian sound that brings unreal energy to the dancefloor.

It's really one of the biggest tracks I have been playing for a while. It reminds me very much of Renato Cohen's Pontape back in the day... same vibe... same energy...
Chris Liebing

The Southern is no stranger to Chris Liebing's CLR, returning for a second EP after 2023's jackin' "Crackin The Jack EP," alongside previous stints on the likes of Truncate, On Edge Society and Kneaded Pains. For "The Particle EP 1," he goes down a more industrial techno route, dropping the first instalment of this two-part release in March, with the second part scheduled to drop late April.
