Sin Rodeos EP by Anika Kunst

Anika Kunst returns to Symbolism this month with the five-track, Sin Rodeos EP.

Kunst's rep has grown significantly in the past few years via releases on Symbolism, Radio Slave's RSPX, and her Chapter Records, but her presence as a DJ in her native Spain has been felt for some time. A popular DJ with dance floors and her peers, she's shared the decks with just about every big name in techno and has developed a distinctive and vibrant style that marks her out from the crowd.

On the "Sin Rodeos EP," we're treated to various Anika Kunst takes on modern techno. From the persistent and acid-licked title track, which reminds us of just how effective a single hi-hat can be in a track, to the chaotic synths of "To The Point," there's enough variation here to make the whole EP essential. The 'just' detuned leads of "Influences" bring new life to a classic sound, while the fathoms-deep but pacy "Rolllazo" and distorted hypnotics of "Back Road" round things out stylishly.
