Apple Jax EP by Pinto

Longstanding Italian label Deeperfect welcome Pinto to the fold for a pair of smooth new house tunes entitled Apple Jax EP, while a Reyam remix closes the package.

Pinto is one of the top artists within the Mexican scene. He has held a residency at Bar Americas for more than a decade, runs his own Localalafiesta night and is part of Hector's Vatos Locos crew.

From percussive house and tightly programmed techno, this Neim Records boss can do it all, but here he goes deep. "Apple Jax" is well informed by classic house: effortless hi-hats glide over warm, cavernous kick drums as subtle and speed out pads drift off in the distance.

It's a timeless groove for cultured dance floors. Germany's Reyam is on the remix and ups the ante with a more propulsive take on the original, but one that is still soft-edged, far-sighted and perfectly inviting.

The second superb original is "Boutique Freaks", a breezy seven-minute-deep house excursion with a lush lead synth that is cosmic and shapeshifting. The drums are again from a golden period in house music's heyday and barely-there vocal coos add more soul to a track that exudes plenty of it.
