Girls Gang Remixes by Dina Summer
The Girls Gang album by Dina Summer gets an array of remixes from DJ Hell, Phunkadelica, The Populists, and Damon Jee.

Berlin-based synth-wave band Dina Summer recently released their highly anticipated second album, "Girls Gang," via Iptamenos Discos. Donning a decadent sound described by Resident Advisor as “dark disco meets EBM,” Dina Summer is a collaborative project formed by electro-punk band Frittenbude member Kalipo and dark-disco DJ & producer duo Local Suicide.
Their previous work includes the critically acclaimed 2022 album "Rimini," which offers a nostalgic dive into retro disco vibes, along with the 2021 EP "Who Am I" and 2024 EP "Hide & Seek." They also contributed to Curses' “Next Wave Acid Punx” compilation, participated in Purple Mag x radiooooo's “2070” project, and performed at Reeperbahn Festival's prestigious “Collide Session”.
The album was a versatile collection of 11 tracks that delve into themes such as empowerment, outsiderhood, impermanence, nostalgia, and relationships. While their debut album was characterized by its club-centric sound, drawing from Italo disco and '90s electro influences, this new release explores a richer palette of new wave, post-punk, and synth-pop.
The sophomore long-player is more song-oriented, often featuring real bass and guitar, and showcases a more vocal-driven performance from frontwoman Dina, incorporating more singing alongside her trademark spoken words. Yet, it retains the same catchy melodies Dina Summer is known for, offering both indie pop hymns and a few undeniable club anthems.
Now the trio is back with a number of club versions & remixes by befriended artists such as the legendary DJ Hell, dark disco all-star Damon Jee, Italian stallion Phunkadelica & French singer/producer and film composer The Populists (aka Yan Wagner) while kicking off their extensive Europe tour!
DJ Hell is the godfather of electroclash and founder/owner of massively influential label International Gigolo Records. Helmut Geier has been behind the decks for many decades, either playing in the greatest clubs throughout the world, at massive music festivals, or at runway shows for the most hyped fashion brands, besides producing music, acting in movies, and designing clothes. His extended mix of "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) is a banging genre-bending journey through time & space. Incorporating a new baseline, driving hi-hats, live audience atmos, and a punchy kick brings the track to another level and makes it a weapon on the dance floor.
Damon Jee, hailing from the south of France, is a pioneering figure in the Dark Disco scene. With over two decades of experience in electronic music, the Dust & Blood label owner has crafted a unique sound. He transforms "Girls Gang" into a club bomb by incorporating his trademark big room energy, adding an epic break and warping the vocals otherworldly.
The Populists is a club-oriented DJ project by a French singer-producer, Gesaffelstein-collaborator, and film composer Yan Wagner. Since 2014 he released EPs and tracks on tastemaker labels such as Lumière Noire, Zone, Detriti, Ritmo Fatale & XXX. In his remix of "Disco Goth," he combines laid-back Italo disco grooves with New Beat drums, giving a whole different feeling to the original.
Phunkadelica is the project of Sicily's finest Luca Marano who's been around since the early 2000s releasing on labels such as OFF Recordings, Innervisions, Correspondant & Multinotes under various aliases. His brilliant close encounter of the third kind (C.E.T.K.) mix of "Alien" is spiked with 90s electro house vibes with its warped vocals, laser stabs & melodies, and techy drum elements.
