Having signed his first EP to Patrick Topping's Trick imprint at the end of 2020, Morgan Cole has had a strong 12 months since welcoming releases on Nervous, REALM, and Sola alongside track support from the likes of Richy Ahmed, Michael Bibi, PAWSA, and Eli Brown. Now, Jamie Jones' esteemed Hottrax welcomes the 22-year-old talent with three-track, vibrating house EP "Initiate".
Direct percussion and throbbing basslines drive growling opening track "Initiate" as tantalizing female vocals and squelching laser samples pave the way for this peak-time EP. Next, the head-bopping "Real Funk" delivers a shuffling base, tight hats, and glistening cymbals while female vocals dance over the beat before computer-driven "System Error" pays homage to the Hottrax back catalog with sinister vocals, game-like bleeps, and rumbling tones.
