Life EP by Kuba Sojka

Polish multi-instrumentalist Kuba Sojka debuts on Rekids' RSPX imprint.

Opening track "Whispers" on Kuba Sojka's ‘Life' EP on Rekids Special Projects is a piece of brilliantly stripped-back yet evocative tech house, perfectly swung with clipped vocals and acidic synth pulses that bring boundless late-night energy. Next, the superb "ID" unfolds at a slower tempo with a sense of mystery and intrigue. The drums again swing low, this time with groaning pads up top, speaking of a desolate landscape as keys trickle in the distance.

"ID" is a brilliantly cinematic cut that keeps you on your toes, while Sojka's "Revived" rides on big dub techno waves with fizzing pads up top and percussion sprinkled over the vast rolling kicks. Last of all, "Final Process" entrances with rich layers of silky synths trailing off into a cosmic sky as the mid-tempo drums make for a supple groove down low.

A live performer, musician, and producer Kuba Sojka draws on a plethora of sounds such as funk, jazz, and soul. He brings an experimental edge to his music and, under his Kuba Sojka and Psi-Acoustic project, has explored IDM, electro, future jazz, and acid. He has landed on labels like Mathematics, Matrix Records, International Day Off Records, and now Radio Slave's RSPX.
