Taras van de Voorde & David Vunk presents Need You Tonight

This February will see the release of Dutch duo Taras Van De Voorde & David Vunk’s ‘Need You Tonight’ via Moustache Records, and it’s a true Rotterdam affair with remixes from locals Alden Tyrell & ROD too.

Taras Van De Voorde is notably known for his work with reputable imprints such as EC Records, Hey!, Suara and Rebirth, while Vunk has released material with Irish imprint, Lunar Disko Records. Between them the pair sit alongside the likes of Tevo Howard, Lerosa, Henrik Schwarz and Melon on rosters, a striking indication of the quality embodied in their output, and now the Dutch duo team up for their first collaborative single, a dark and brooding Techno focused record, here on Vunk’s Moustache Records imprint.

Opening the single is the original mix of ‘Need You Tonight’ from the duo, who turn in a stab sequence led piece, fuelled by raw Jupiter 8 chords, whirring low-end bass tones and evolving TR-909 rhythms. Clone’s Alden Tryell steps up to the plate next to reshape ‘Need You Tonight’, the also Dutch producer opts to strip things back to a more refined feel with his interpretation, pulling back on the percussive aspects while heavily processing the melodic elements of the original cut to create a smooth, ever blossoming rework.

Then finally to close the single ROD aka Benny Rodrigues, an artist who’s notably worked with Field Records and Ben Klock’s Klockworks label, delivers yet another infectiously hooky darkroom workout, taking things a little deeper in contrast to the original track, yet maintaining a captivating structure through subtle changes and varying retractions throughout the records entirety.
