Direto EP by Vinicius Honorio

South American techno powerhouse Vinicius Honorio debuts on Lady Tazz's Mind Medizin with the Direto EP.

Vinicius Honorio is a long-standing Brazilian techno powerhouse. He has released a slew of scintillating tracks on Figure, Blueprint, Token, and many more, all of which show a love for trippy and foreboding techno imbued with dark and dubby energy and passion. He also heads up the Liberta Records label and plays cult clubs from Berlin's Wilde Renate to London's Fold.

The opener, "Direto," has drums that will rumble the foundations of any warehouse. Up top, glitchy percussion peels off the deep-cut groove, and moody synths make for a haunting atmosphere. "I Want You" is more unsettled and unsettling, with edgy synth motifs bringing anxious paranoia over more heavy, rolling, and hypnotic drums. It's a perfectly alluring sound for those who like their techno, deep and dark.

Colombian label associate Sinistermind is an expert in the use of textures and complex rhythms. He shows that with his version of "Direto," which has more height and reverberation in the kicks. Snatched vocal fragments add a freaky feel next to a curious synth line that will keep dancers on edge.

Portugal's techno titan Lewis Fautzi has his own self-titled label and has worked on Len Faki's Figure, Ellen Allien's Bpitch Control, and Slam's Soma. His fantastic remix of "I Want You" is packed with twisted synth textures and grainy dub undercurrents as the bulky drums roll on like a techno tsunami.
