Heater remixes by Samim

The second single from Thandi Draai's upcoming Africa Get Physical Vol. 5 features two remixes of a Samim classic - one from her alongside DJ Clock and Mphoza, and one from FNX Omar Remix.

Samim's "Heater" is a true underground anthem. It's one of several ever-green hits in the Get Physical catalog that never fails to make a dance floor erupt. There is no one better placed to remix it with a whole different energy than Afro-house pioneer Thandi Draai - a mainstay in her native scene who has also had props from MistaJam and Radio 1 and has long been serving up her unique mix of deep and vocal sounds on this label.

She joins forces with fellow South African house innovators DJ Clock & Mphoza to flip "Heater" into a slow-burning cut loaded with tense percussion. The rumbling drums and bass eventually break to make for an epic build with wordless cries and percussive clatter before the iconic accordion line from the original appears and ignites the party as steamy vocals add further heat.

FNX Omar is a Moroccan who has driven his native scene forward and draws on his Arab-Berber heritage. His remix is deep and loose, tribal and peppered with hints of the accordion sound, which eventually fantastically flourishes into life.
