Craigie Knowes presents Knowes Universal Broadcast (Seg. 1)

A versatile mix of sounds and beats make up the Knowes Universal Broadcast (Seg. 1) album. Something one should really check out, just because it feels fresher than anything else.

A label known for their War Child Charity record that kicked off all of it, are now back with another record that features some interesting artists. This time its the likes of Baltra, Highfield Casuals, Natureboy Gold and Steven Simpson.

First up and the leading track of the album is Baltra who brings "Faded Away" (Vocal) to the mix and its a wonderful little piece of music, as you would expect. Next up is Highfield Casuals with "Highfield Daze" which is a collaboration between The Burrell Connection & Craig Johnston, which bring a very infectious melody on top of a broken beat. It sticks in your head for a long time.

All the way from Berlin comes Natureboy Gold with "Prozac Test" which at first sounds like a very nice mellow ambient track but, it soon turn into an almost cinematic theme with broken beats and massive 303, 808 and 909 sounds chirping away.

The album closes with Steven Simpson, a fellow Glasgowian, who releases records on labels like Lobster Theremin and 10 Pills Mate to great effect. Here he is sharing his "Qaua", which is brilliant in its own right.

All in all a very interesting release that deserves ones undivided attention, because it has some really nice hidden gems on it.
